Five Core Areas to Scale Your Impact

Five areas dominate my coaching work with senior managers striving to scale their impact and potentially step into the executive ranks. These are:

1

Developing as a strategist

2

Strengthening executive presence

3

Cultivating influence

Strengthening these five areas takes deliberate focus, ample exploration, and active experimentation, and frankly, it's essential to have a guide and coach. That's my role.

What the Senior Manager Program Is:

Your Image

The short-story: The Senior Manager Program is a sustained professional development experience blending cohort-focused learning, expert-delivered training and executive coaching, all delivered over five months.

This program is unique and uniquely powerful with its focus on helping senior managers scale their impact. And it's delivered in a way to fit every professional's busy schedule.

This is the program senior managers need to scale their impact and success!

Imagine Yourself as Part of this Professional Development Experience:

We gather as a cohort once per month for three hours to explore the core topics in depth, share perspectives, and experiences, and develop an ideas-to-actions plan to put into place in your organization.

You and I connect monthly for an executive coaching session where we focus exclusively on you and apply our strategies and approaches to your unique situation.

We convene for one of our three planned guest expert sessions to learn from leading thinkers and practitioners in our core areas. These experts share their ideas and experiences and field your questions.

You keep in touch with your coach and cohort via a private forum during and after the program.

You'll leave each working session brimming with energy and ideas to put into action. Unlike one-and-done training, you come back and share your experiences and insights along the way as we sustain the learning experience for almost half a year.

A Cohort to Support, Encourage and Challenge

Working together for five months, your cohort members are an integral part of the learning experience.

The cohort groups bring individuals from all sectors of our global economy to share challenges and ideas and work together on program activities. The diverse perspectives, creative explorating and case and situation activities make this a rich learning experience.

Guest Experts to Challenge You to Think & Think Differently

A goal of Art's for this program is to expose participants to a diverse set of ideas, including the research and practitioner based perspectives of leading experts.

In this program, we'll have guest experts for the topics of executive presence, strategic thinking, and leading transformation and change.

The guest experts bring their own experiences working on the front lines in organizations and working with individuals and groups to bring ideas to life in their respective marketplaces.

Scheduled separate from our five working sessions, the guest expert sessions offer an outstanding opportunity to gain diverse perspectives and to ask your most challenging questions.

A Deeper Dive Into the Five Core Modules

1. Developing as a Strategist

Developing your confidence and comfort for strategy work is essential for senior managers. As your responsibilities expand, you will be increasingly drawn into the decision-making challenges of where to invest, how to grow, and how to maneuver your business in the face of market volatility and the unrelenting need for change.

In this program, you learn to use several powerful toolsets/frameworks to evaluate your organization's situation and identify viable options. Whether creating or guiding a product/service, market, or organizational strategy development, this module will challenge and teach you to think differently and use the tools that great strategists draw upon to identify and bring strategy to life. In addition to drawing upon Art's expertise as a strategist, our guest expert will reinforce our concepts and share experiences and approaches used across service, manufacturing, technology, and digital native organizations.

You gain a new vocabulary, a command of three powerful toolsets you can use immediately, and new ways of thinking about your situation. Art and your guest expert bring real case examples to bear, and you work with your cohort members to put the tools to work.

2. Strengthening Your Executive Presence

Almost every emerging executive hears this guidance at some point: "It will help if you strengthen your executive presence." It's too bad most people can't accurately describe what executive presence is, much less how to develop it. Yet, presence—how you show up and engage with others matters.

In this program, Art works with you to help you understand executive presence and gain input on where you are strong and where you need to strengthen. Together, with support from your cohort, we build a strategy for you, and we monitor and adjust it based on your experiences throughout our program.

This topic is so crucial that Art has engaged one of the foremost authorities to join our session and share his research, insights, and guidance.

3. Cultivating Influence

You cannot avoid the need to cultivate influence. One of the issues inherent in growing your executive career is your need to gain the support of others across the organization and the top management team to support your innovation and transformation initiatives.

Too many individuals assume growing their influence means engaging in unethical behaviors and stepping on toes. Our program teaches professionals how to cultivate influence by creating value for stakeholders, deepening key relationships, and strengthening and connecting internal and external networks.

You'll leave this program with a clear view of your deepest pockets of influence and, importantly, where your gaps are. Of course, we'll identify strategies for you to put to work to strengthen your influence.

4. Leading at Scale

If you're in this program, you manage managers and even directors, enabling their success at scale. You're living and operating in a world of teams and projects, and much of your group's work occurs across functional areas. Learning to lead, coach, empower, structure, and motivate at scale is mission-critical to your success.

This module emphasizes refining (or creating) your formal Leadership Point of View (LPOV) and defining how you plan to bring it to life with your teams. Additionally, we look at the essential strategies for coaching the leaders on your team and the teams guiding transformation efforts. A vital part of this module focuses on thinking through what it truly means to lead in this environment and how to gain the feedback you need to grow. You leave armed with tools, approaches, and plans to scale your impact as a leader.

5. Leading Innovation and Transformation

Our core topics inter-relate and inter-operate, with our module on Leading Innovation and Transformation drawing upon all of them simultaneously. No set of behaviors is more essential in your career than cultivating the ability to lead innovation in the face of volatility and uncertainty and to guide transformation necessary to survive and thrive.

In this module, Art brings the experiences of leading innovation and transformation at scale and draws upon an expert who has experience leading transformation in consumer electronics, banking, and Big Pharma environments. You'll be challenged to draw upon our prior work in strategy, influence, and leadership to defin an approach to guide change and transformation in your organization. There's a reason this is the capstone module. We gather once per month for three hours with similarly motivated professionals from different industries to explore the core topics in depth, share perspectives, and experiences, and develop an ideas-to-actions plan to put into place in your organization.

About the Executive Coaching Portion

The coaching portion is all about you and your success.

In our five 1x1 sessions, we identify specific strategies for your situation. Ideally, Art enages with your manager to calibrate on areas for growth. As needed, we conduct a 360-degree interview to gain input from those around you. And ultimately, we focus on identifying your core strengths and how to better leverage them while also looking out for gaps and areas that need strengthening.

This coaching is typically only available for thousands of dollars and never integrated with a sustained learning experience, until now. The blend of cohort/classroom/expert, and coaching creates a rich experience.
